And so it begins.

Hi everyone, i thought I would just take a few minutes to introduce myself . I'm currently in my 2nd year of uni studying jewellery and metal design at Duncan of Jordanstone in Dundee. So we've been given our first project brief, and the idea is to design a vessel in metal and to include texture. This is now the hmm.. the third week.. i think and so far I've been working away in my sketch book playing around with shapes and ideas to further develop into a final contemporary vessel design using texture as one of the key focuses.

I started looking at shells and muscles as i had a collection of them to hand.I enjoy studying them because of their constantly irregular and unique forms,patterns,shapes and textures -not one shell is ever the same as the other, wither its that little bit smaller, or thinner, even the pattern of the same kind of shell may appear the same but once properly looked you see that they're not.

I've also been in the workshop a lot learning new techniques and processes that will help me a lot during my next few years. Its been really interesting learning new things everyday. I did a little work in the workshop last year when i was in the general course, which was really good, i knew i always wanted to do jewellery but working in the workshop for the first time and just getting a feel of it was really inspiring and just made me want to do it even more. So hears a few i did in my 2-3 week design project.
